San Carlos Residents get Food Scrap program
In August 2008 the San Carlos City Council approved the collection of food waste (pizza boxes, food soiled packaging, paper towels, bones, cheese, etc). San Carlos will be the first city in San Mateo County to have curbside collection of food scraps. The food scraps will be taken to Newby Island in Milpitas to be composted.

Beginning March 9, 2009 San Carlos residents will be able to recycle their food scraps. Customers will place their food scrpas in their green yard waste cart and it will be collected weekly. Bottles, cans, and mixed paper will continue to be collected bi-weekly.

San Carlos residents should begin receiving their recycling calendar magnet the week of February 23.  Click here for FAQ's regarding the Food Scrap Program or visit www.cityofsancarlos.org or www.rethinkwaste.org for more information.
